Nite Ride

Yesterday, i and my bud missed the kl bike week sunset ride. Yeah, we are of about 15 mins. And we rushed together through MEX highway. Unfortunately, on our way, my spark plug loosen. Thus we had to stopped and checked it. Its frustating. Really did.

Well, now im on my way back. And i had to visit Putrajaya to meet a friend and to pick up something from him. From Putrajaya, i went straight to Serdang via Silicon highway. Heres some pucs of my nite ride, alone. Haha.

KL Bike Week

On the 23th of Disember 2011, I and a few of my buds had visited the KL Bike Week held at MATIC, Jalan Ampang. It is a three day event( which today is the second day). It sure is a blast with concert and bike show. Its cool man. Its kind of a gathering of all bikers in Malaysia. It was my first time to attend such event.

For todays schedule there will be a sunset ride from MATIC. Im sure there will be a lot of bikes joining the ride which i plan to join too.

Lets not forget that the constitution had stated that the pay of servicemen should be the highest in the country. Please let me remind you again that being a serviceman is not as sweet as how it seems. Remember those people whom had sacrifice their time and life for the sake of your own safety. You may said doctors, engineers and etc job is kinda same. But did these people risk their life the way we did? Did they have bullets flying towards em?

This may sound immature, but i know some of you would say, our country is safe. No war and etc, no need for an increase. Thats totally ass. You gotta understand, we are trained, and equipped for war. For the purpose of getting ready to protect the dignity of our country at any time called by the Supreme Ruler. Our Royal Highness.

Constitution is not made so that we can easily neglect or change em. If you really understand it, you would realize that the constitution should be followed and obeyed. It is still relevant even at this millennia. And it would always remain as a legacy and a sign of our loyalty to the Royal Highness. End of story. Fullstop!!!

Every soul in this world would face problem in their walk of life. Believe me, everyone do. All people is unique in each and every way. And these uniqueness also resolves around the way a person face or solve their problems.

I was made known that one of my buds has broke up with his girlfriend. It is a good thing that he went through it like it was nothing. He was very happy as he said that they still have future together. For me it is more like a hold up.

Some people amuse me by the way problems came to them, while some in the way they faced it. No need to runaway, as each path we took, there would be challenges awaits for us. Problems made a person grew wiser. So people, stand up and fight. No need to mourn for your losses. There is plenty out there who is less fortunate than you are. Cheer up.

Lately i had this cravings for cendol and ABC. I dont know why. Maybe because my training environment, which is hot and tiring had given birth to this craving. Yeah this is me, always with reason to let myself looks like an innocent. Remember, escapism is not good.

Actually i want to tell you peeps that i am now at the famous Wahab's Cendol in Wangsa Maju. The restaurant is located at Sri Rampai Business Center. Today i've been planning to have ABC Laici and Rojak Ayam. Usually, I would have Cendol Jagung and Rojak Sotong here.

Hopefully my cravings for ABC and Cendol would not affect my passing out parade tomorrow. Well peeps, enjoy the pics.

hye peeps.
its been a long time since i last updated my blog. ive been busy with my final training, convocation, and passing out parade. Its another month or so to go. Seems like the memories of me n my friends being here been playing on my mind even more as i approaching the gate of being an officer. But one thing i learned from my oc, leaders come and go, but his spirit will remain.

My years being here had thought me to be optimist and realist. But not to forget being an idealist too. And some how I've learned how to be a good officer and a good man. The problem is, I am kinda afraid if i can keep up with my current 'well being'. Nobody is perfect, but some how, we have to be better each and every day. I dont want to be condemned to hell for not leading my men to the right path. Well hopefully myself too.

In this couple of years I'd also learned the meaning of friendship and comradeship. I wouldnt sell my buds out for things that wud threaten themselves. however, some people just cudnt get into enough problems. so they keep on repeating the same mistake, time after time. So, please, who ever read my piece of crap here, always, man ,or woman, up to ur friend. Lead and show them how to live and be a good person. I always believe that, wut ever i did, even the smallest thing in my life wud some how affect others around me, thus affecting the community and the nation.

There's so much thing i would want to teach and learn from people. let it be my instructors, peers, and even juniors. some every people is special in their way of thinking. brainstorming can help molding a person. Some people might also learn from hardship and pain. You chose the way you wud want to grow up. the paths is too many, but the endstate of ur life must only be one and only, to be a good person, in the world and hereafter.

well thats enough babbling for today, i guess, talk to you all again later. cheer up, and remember, no one can mindfuck u unless u let them to do so. U got plenty of options, chose the best one.

Following recent incident happening in my life, I had become so attached to a song. Yeah, for me, there's always a song for my mood. And lately it is 'Masih Aku Terasa' by Gersang. Well, seeing from the name of the band, it is not because I am 'GERSANG', but its the song.

Since my earlier age of listening to indie music, I always looked up to Loque of Butterfingers. For me, he is my music icon. I dreamed of to be a genius in music like him. Listening to all of Butterfingers made me realize that, I do not have to search for foreign artists such as Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, and Maroon 5 ( even though I also enjoyed listening to them) concerts. Hey, we got superb Indie bands in Malaysia, which really thrills.

Other than Butterfingers, I also love to listen to Cromok. Nice instrumental songs and guitar licks and also great beats.

Enough typing, I had found out that Loque played a cover of Masih Aku Terasa. Here's the song, enjoy it peeps.

Just finished watching Jackass 3D. Yeah, they are awesome. Minus some dirty scene that you might not wanna watch. Anyhow, that dirty movie cheered me up after a day of, let say, torture? Nah, tiring is the word.

Hi guys. In this post I would like to introduce you to Tweetie. It is an app from Twitter for Iphone.

This is where the profile of the account holder can be viewed. Once in the app, the user can tap the '...' (3 dots on the farthest right hand side) to view this panel. Here the user can see the number of his/her follower(s), number of tweet(s), number of tweep(s) the user is following, and number of favourite tweet(s). To go into the details of the above, one can tap on the appropriate box and another panel showing the detailed info will pop out.

This is the news panel (which unfortunately I don't have, maybe it is from the later version of tweetie.)

This is the status update panel. Here we can see the status updated by the tweeps we followed. The dialog box show the actual status updated. While the @ icon shows the status which mentioned our name in it. The mail icon is where private messages go. the magnifier is very useful when we want to search for people, tweets or anything. The '...' will bring you to your profile info. Try sliding your finger on the status update panel. And easy access shortcut will appear which make it very pleasant and easy to Retweet, Reply, Quote, or add the status into our favourite.

This is the main panel or the magnifying panel. Here we can see what's trending now and hot/latest news.

Reported in The Star today, a man from Singapore spent RM690,00 for prostitutes over four decades. However, his wife has no intentions of leaving him.

The 59 years old has sought about 3000 times on prostitutes service in the duration (DAMN). He has been visiting prostitute house since he was 16 (Damn, dirty lil kid). The activity was only been found out by his wife after they got married. His wife also tried to commit suicide knowing his husband activity.

How could people use so much money on such thing? Why don't they donate it for charity? Or build an orphanage? If I had that so much money, I would build a house for my parents and myself. Luckily I don't.

Yeah, Datuk Malek Noor, the 6 times Asia Heavyweight Bodybuilder Champ, was attacked. He was reported to be attacked by heart attack during a football match between Perak's MB team and the National Veterans team.

He played as a goalkeeper, hold to the goal post during the attack. He was later send to a private hospital afterward. Lets pray that he will be back in good shape soon.

UKM 10's

Hi guys.
Just got back from UKM 10's in UKM. If you don't have any idea about it, it's a rugby tourney. We had a good day yesterday. We won all the matches, we laughed, drank, ate and pray together. And we advanced to the quarter finals.

However, in the semi final, we were beaten by PSA, Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah. Just with a try difference. Its really disappointing, however, it is still good to gather and play like the old times. That's all for today.

Have you watch the latest movie by KRU Production? Yes, it is Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa,. It was directed by Yusri Abdul Halim. The youngest of the three brothers if I'm not mistaken.

Read the synopsis above. Have you got the idea about the movie? Haven't watched it yet. But now, lets see what people said about this movie.

There, 133 Likes, and few good comments too. Actually, I was waiting for the movie ever since I watched the preview in Youtube last year.

However, once the movie is out, I still hadn't got the chance to watch it. Also heard some negative comment on the movie. I bet you people thought I'm gonna say "This movie sucks", "2 Alam is way better than Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa", "Is that another shitty Malay movie?" Well friends, you are so damn wrong. I just repaired my fork. Its leaking and running out of fork oil. Its been a terrible riding experience for me. However, I had repaired the fork. But later I found out that my brake plate is worn out.

This is kind of a breaking news to all students of UPNM.

Mej Idris Pandak Yahya was injured during an accident. The accident happened at about 1145, at Pos Belakang TUDM Subang. It is said that he was driving on his motorcycle from picking up his son from tuition.

The accident occurred when he was hit by a van which happen to be entering a road without lighting his signal. Mej Idris who was on the right side of the van was hit afterward. He sustained broken leg and wrist. However he is still in ICU for further observation.

It was also reported that he will be transferred from Sungai Buloh Hospital to a private hospital in Shah Alam. Lets pray so that he will be well soon and continuing his duty to serve the country.

After political revolution in Egypt, comes the news of quake in Christchurch, and now tsunami in Japan. People are getting worried about their kin in Japan. Fortunately, my friend who was in a course in Japan, just came back yesterday. Now, I have to mourn other people instead of him.

Reported in newspapers today is the destruction due to the waves and quakes. People in Japan are stuck as transportation system was put on halt to prevent further loss. Nuclear reactor and oil plant was closed. It was also reported that the 8.9 Richter quake have destroyed factories, houses, roads and caused blackout all over Tokyo.

Lets hope that all the people over there is save ( well of course not all), but lets just pray for them. And may this wrath of mother nature be a reminder to us all.

Final Year Project

Been busy with my Final Year Project (FYP) lately. So sorry that i hadn't update my blog for a long time. This whole thing of being a student really is pissing me off. A lot of things did happen also. Instead of managing my shit, I have to take care of others also. So let say, my life is full of shit now. But it's OK because I believe that if I did something good for someone else, I'll get my fair treatment. I wish.

The thing with my FYP is, I have to create a control system to control a rocket during its flight. I will upload the snippet afterward, IF someone bother watching, because I don't think most people do. MOST people not ALL OK? A LOT, A LOT, of people care about gossips, pretty chicks, and awesome dudes, so I don't think A LOT of people out there give a shit about my FYP. Stop giving me your shit, I'm full of it already.

I would be going out for my FYP research tomorrow, and I hope that I would have no problem doing my research. Thank GOD, there's someone in this small world that could lend me a hand. And also thanks to all forum goers who had replied my stupid questions.

Hand Signals During Riding

How are you guys? Hope you are all in the peak of health. been wondering what to write today, and suddenly I bumped onto this. So, I guess not only the riders need to know about this, but also other road users. So that accident can be avoided. Well, Lets learn guys

	START ENGINES With your right or left arm extended, move your index finger in a circular motion.
LEFT TURN Raise your left arm horizontal with your elbow fully extended.
	RIGHT TURN Raise your left arm horizontal with your elbow bent 90 degrees vertically.
HAZARD LEFT Extend your left arm at a 45 degree angle and point towards the hazard.
	HAZARD RIGHT A Extend your right leg at a 45 degree downward angle to signal the hazard.
HAZARD RIGHT B Extend your left arm upward at a 45 degree angle with your elbow bent to 90 degrees and point towards the hazard over your helmet.
	SPEED UP Raise your left arm up and down with your index finger extended upward. This indicates the leader wants to speed up.
SLOW DOWN Extend your left arm at a 45 degree angle and move your hand up and down.
	STOP Extend your left arm at a 45 degree angle with the palm of your hand facing rearward.
SINGLE FILE Position your left hand over your helmet with your fingers extended upward. This indicates the leader wants the group in a single file formation. Usually this is done for safety reasons.
	STAGGERED FORMATION Extend your left arm upward at a 45 degree angle with your index and pinkie finger extended. This indicate that it is safe to return to staggered formation.
TIGHTEN UP Raise your left arm and repeatedly move up and down in a pulling motion. This indicates the leader wants the group to close ranks.
	PISSED OFF Extend your left arm straight out with your elbow bent 90 degrees. Carefully extend your middle finger to clearly demonstrate your dissatisfaction with the other guy. NOTE: It is not recommended you do this when you are alone.

Hi.
I wish a very good day to everyone reading and following my blog. Its been kinda lame since I'd not update or posted anything here. Maybe this is my first post for 2011.

Before all of the blurbs, I want to wish all the Malaysian Army personnel, Happy Army Day!! HOORAH!!!

Many things been happening lately. There are going to be major changes in the rank structure in my University. People been talking, "Change this, change that, but in the end nothing change at all." Hey peeps, look at the bright side. Please. Changes are made to make sure something, or everything, improves. If the higher commander, or leader see that the current system is good, changes towards it are unnecessary. U got my point right?

On the 29th of January, my eldest sister had had her marriage with the man of her choice. No worries, she got my parents blessings. The wedding reception was held the next day. Congratulations Kak Long, may your marriage is blessed with love, prosperity and happiness, till the end of your life.

Its just a short update, didn't have any picture to upload here.
Anyhow, Ill make sure that next time Ill update my blog more frequently, so you guys might have the idea of what Im doing, share thoughts and LOL!

Renewable Energy and Systems Management Course

On the 25th and 26th of January, I went to a short course organized by UTM KL. The course is entitled Renewable Energy and Systems Management. This course exposed me to renewable energy which is a new kind of energy which is in development level in Malaysia.

In the short course, I am briefed on the renewable energy amd systems managment in Taiwan. The organizer had invited a researcher from Taiwan, Prof. Wu. He had explained and presented renewable energy technologies such as the wind turbine and photovoltaic system. He also told the grid systems in Taiwan.

Next, there is a Dr from UTM. Dr. Afendi told us his research in renewable energy in Malaysia. He also showed us clips from his projects. I found it interesting as renewable energy is actually easy to generate because there are a lot of these energy sources around with or whithout us realizing it.

This course is really helpful because it make us realize that we have to harness energy to the fullest and save and used it as optimum as we can. I hope that more and more people will realize the importances of energy and would not let it to waste.

I enjoyed watching the game yesterday, after missing a lot of Malaysia football team's game in the Suzuki Cup. Even thought I just watched it in the curry house, not in the stadium, but i can feel the excitement, and the spirit off the players.

What have been bothering me is the fact that the national team has evolved into such team. It is the question of why, there's still lack of support in the national football scene. it is really upsetting me. i got a friend that bet the malaysia team would lost yesterday. See the lack of spirit in malaysian itself.

I'd visited the Harimau Muda page in FB. It is so sad that both malaysians and indonesians are mocking each other. Come on, I can feel and understand ur anger, but there is no need for such harsh and uncivilized words. Is this how we nurture and teach our younger generations??

My Latest Update

Been busy with a lot of things lately... really having some prob managing my priority... However i manage to do a lot of things which I really love to do.. First of all, I manage to sneak out for a ride to Cameron Highlands with my buds during the Hari Raya Aidil Adha break... Its been a hell of a ride because we'd been riding in heavy rain with limited sight. And we do had a lot of problem during the ride, my friend got minor break down on his CB400, and one of us got an empty tank on the highway. even though we faced a lot of problems, we manage to arrive at Brinchang that night, and we sleep there for a night before going back to our house.

Next up is my family had been constructing a new family house. It is not far away from my current house, so it would not be a prob for any of u that had been to my house to come to my new house. Been waiting for the house to be finished. Hopefully it can be done before early January, because on 29 Jan my eldest sister will get married. and i hope it can be done in the new house.. you are so damn lucky sis...

And last week, we had an inter battalion rugby match. Its been a really hard week, as we have to undergo our military training and rugby training in the same time. But i really feel good about it. And proud to say, even we're finishing as the runner up, my lads had done their best in all of the games, i really am proud of you guys.. remember, it doesnt only take a winner to be celebrated, but also men/women with pride, honor and courage

Tanjung Malim Ride

Last Sunday i manage to go for a ride with my friends. The ride took us to Tanjung Malim. The ride took about 45 minutes from kl. There are 11 bikers from all range of bikes, involved in this ride. As we arrive in Tanung Malim, we went to one of the biker's friend hostel ( she's a student of UPSI). Later we went to the famous PAU restaurant. Unfortunately, the place is packed full. And not long after we arrive a group of 40 bikers came to the lot. We started our bike and found another place to have lunch. Give way to more senior bikers. HEHE... At 1600 we started our journey back to KL.. It was hell-of-a-ride.. Everyone is having fun and we came back safely. Enjoy the pics..

Bad Habit 1
Being Tethered to Your Cell Phone

You’re certainly not alone in your technology addiction. It’s hard to walk down the street, travel or dine and not see people texting, talking or scrolling away. But no one needs to be plugged in 24/7. It just takes you away from living your real, non-digital life.

How to kick it:

Figure out why you’re hooked. Are you using your tools to help you with work? Or are you using them to avoid life?There’s a real difference, and you need to be brutally honest to find out.”

Force yourself to spend at least 10 minutes listening to nothing but your own thoughts. Learn the joy of quiet time. You'll be astonished what you will discover.
Disconnect when you connect. There’s nothing more annoying than being with someone who’s answering emails or clutching his or her cell phone while pretending to listen to you.

Unless you're on trial for a capital offense and you're waiting to hear the jury verdict, give your full attention to your loved ones during meals and when you're out to have quality time together, if you don't enjoy being with your partner or children, call your therapist.

Bad Habit 2
Being Disorganized
Being organized is the foundation for everything you want to achieve or accomplish, it allows you to have more time, less aggravation, better health and can be a springboard for creativity.

How to kick it:

Take baby steps. Start with these small changes: Make your bed every day, never leave dirty dishes in the sink or allow clean ones to languish on the drain board and put your keys and glasses in the same spot every time.

As you make slow, incremental positive changes, your self-esteem rises as does your faith in yourself that you can get organized.
Tame the paper tiger. Open your mail each day and immediately toss extraneous materials like flyers or freebie magazines that come with your bills. Also, be realistic about which catalogs you’ll really read, saving one from each company, not 10. File mail into folders or baskets according to bills to pay, invitations to respond to, etc.

Bad Habit 3
Always Being Late
It leaves you frazzled, creates a bad impression and is rude. Though it’s usually unconscious, it’s as if you’re saying, ‘My agenda is more important than yours’.

How to kick it:

Set a goal. Write it down and do so in the present tense rather than the future. “Saying, ‘I show up on time for all appointments’ is powerful, but saying, ‘As soon as I get organized, I’ll show up on time’ puts your good result in the future and just out of reach.”
Get a calendar. Whether it's an electronic calendar, the one on your computer or a paper version, you need to record your appointments and deadlines, it helps to work with a week or month at a glance. This way you can see what demands you're making on yourself. Are you trying to do too much? Perhaps that's why you're always late!

Bad Habit 4
Forgetting Your Friends
The good feelings you’ll elicit when you remember a friend’s big day are priceless. It makes people feel loved when you note the good times as well as the bad. Maintaining close relationships is important for a fuller life and better health, according to research.

How to kick it:

Go high tech. If you have a computer, it's pretty easy to stay on top of dates these days. Most calendar programs let you set reminders of important dates, or you can register with an online service that emails you when these big moments pop up.

Or use a paper calendar to record only birthdays and anniversaries, and put a note in your daily planner to look it at the beginning of each month. You’ll know which cards or gifts you need to buy.
Make time to reach out. Set time aside each month to make long-distance calls or use your down-time waiting in doctor's offices or airports (as long as you use your 'inside voice' so no one has to listen to your conversation). If you don’t have time to call, check in regularly with a quick “thinking of you email.”

Bad Habit 5
Not Saving Money
Saving is critical in any economic environment but a down economy, where you may lose your job or something unfortunate happens, makes you see that having an emergency fund is even more important than ever.

How to kick it:

Put aside something. Most people think it’s going to be easier to save later, but later is a nebulous term and you’re always going to have more obligations even if your income increases.

Keep track of your spending for seven days by getting receipts for everything, and then see what you value and where you can cut back. Next, stash the money away in a bank account or spot where you won’t touch it. After a while, you’ll see it add up and change your attitude toward money.
Call your credit card company. The best thing to do is to pay your credit cards in full each month. If that’s more a fantasy than reality, call your credit card company and ask for a lower interest rate, which is possible if you’ve at least been making your minimum payments each month.

I wanna share my earnings with you guys. Thanks to those who helped me. It really was something. I've been blogging for more than a year, and I'd joined Nuffnang ever since i created my blog. However, I was young and stupid dumb dumb. I don't know how it works. Until I heard about making extra income by blogging. So, I tried and asked a few blogger about it. And they was so helpful. And now I think it is my turn to share.

First of all, you have to update your blog survey. It is in the nuffnang page. Once u logged in you will see the edit survey tab. Clink on it and fill in the details. Be specific.

Secondly, put your site on search engine. I was kinda blurry about this, but this is what I do. In the search box, type search engine. Then you will see links that can put up your site on their search engine.

No rojak blogging. This is strictly important. Be specific on what are you posting. A little rojak is ok, but make sure it is not out of the your blog circle. Thanks to Anthony. He taught me a lot about this.

I think that is all. It took me a night to get buffered earnings. And the 2 days after that I started to get those metered campaigns and campaigns in my earning tabs. still not sure how they work. Still gonna learn about this. For those who wish to know more, do ask. I'll help if I can. And one more thing to remember, blogging is not about being rich, it is about making extra income.

My Past Aidilfitri Memoirs

I think the announcement is crystal clear, it told you enough. We are going to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri this coming friday. It's like, what, one more day 2 fast right. I still remember when I was a boy, celebrating hari raya would be so much fun.

Holiday
we would be having holidays for a week, and that means, no homework just time to play.. yeay!!! It is the most awaited moment of the year, because longer holidays mean, more time for me to collect duit raya..hehe

Bamboo Canon
I guess kids nowadays hadn't heard or see any traditional bamboo canon, I wonder if they knew about alternatives canon made using iron pipes or milo's tin anymore. Man, that thing is surely a thrill, I remember having whose-canon-is-the-loudest-in-the-entire-village competition. It was awesome, the loud explosion would awaken all those people in the morning to make sure they'll not be late for their hari raya prayer. And I still remember the numb I got after one of the canon I ignited blown to pieces and hit my hand. Damn.

The Duit Raya
During my old days, I used to go to each and every house in my neighborhood to collect duit raya. It was fun since everyone knew me, and what am I doing in the present year. It was nice talking to older people, feeling like you represent your parents to visit the neighbor.

Kuih Raya
I kinda having the habit of finishing at least one kind of kuih raya in a particular house that I visited, and, I'm still doing it now. Hari raya is the time when you would find this weird looking cookies with sweet taste that will bite off your taste buds. And it is a good thing to remind your neighbor that there is still someone that lives the traditions during hari raya.

New Clothes
It is the most happening moment in a year which my family would spend a lot in preparing clothes for my sibs. Born in a family of seven sibs, this is really a tough job for my parents. However, nowadays I have to shop by myself, using my own money. Ibu, abah, can i show you the receipt and claim it later. hehe

Meeting My Cousins
Since all my uncle and auntie live far away from each other, this is the happiest time for us kiddies. We would end up sleeping at our grandparents house and spending the time together playing shit and stuff.

Firecrackers
Yezza, this is the time where firecrackers are sold like fried bananas. Variety of colors, shape, loudness of its bang. And for those under 10 years old, just go and play with your bunga api instead. No explosives for you. Still remember my neighbor used to shot a mercun rocket and it blew right in front of my eyes. Tq, bro. That teach me no mercy. hehe

Those are from my good old days. It is a shame for me as younger generations today didn't really feel the excitement and live the tradition of hari raya. Most of them would be chained in front of their tv, watching shit. I could bet, none of this kids really know their relatives. It is up to their parents to teach them so that the beauty of hari raya would not fade away.

Using $250 000 for a billboard to prove a love affair is maybe a little too much, but not for YaVaughnie Wilkins who wanted everybody to know about the 8 and a half year long affair she had with Obama‘s advisor Charles Phillips.

Since love affairs for married couples are common these days, why not make a dating site for it?

This billboard was meant to help Republicans, but both the Republicans and Democrats thought that using a picture of the burning World Trade Center was inappropriate.

Holiday Is Coming!!!

I will be having my holiday starting from tomorrow until the 19th of September. I think I would not be able to update my blog as much as I can now due to certain problems. However it is not the best of interest for me of a two weeks of holidays. Man, I gonna freeze my brain to death. It is too long. But maybe it is the right time for me to rest and having quality time with my beloved. I've been thinking about having a short trip during the holiday. Who knows it gonna work out and bringing me back here with fresh, awesomely cool, and hellishly hot new ideas for my blog.

As for BE, I'd got them. Even though the amount is small, but it shows that my hard work was paid off. I'm hoping more and more people will visit my blog after this. Pecking, smooching, Frenching, and playing tonsil-hockey—there are as many names for kissing as there are ways to do it. Whether we use it as an informal greeting or an intensely romantic gesture, kissing is one of those ingrained human behaviors that seems to defy explanation. Its many purposes—a blow and peck for good luck on dice, lips to ground after a rocky boat ride, kisses in the air to an acquaintance, and the long slow smooches of Hollywood—have different meanings yet are similar in nature. So why is it that we love to pucker up?

A Kiss Isn’t Just a Kiss
Philematologists, the scientists who study kissing, aren’t exactly sure why humans started locking lips in the first place. The most likely theory is that it stems from primate mothers passing along chewed food to their toothless babies. The lip-to-lip contact may have been passed on through evolution, not only as a necessary means of survival, but also as a general way to promote social bonding and as an expression of love.

But something’s obviously happened to kissing since the time of the chewed-food pass. Now, it’s believed that kissing helps transfer critical information, rather than just meat bits. The kissing we associate with romantic courtship may help us to choose a good mate, send chemical signals, and foster long-term relationships. All of this is important in evolution’s ultimate goal—successful procreation.

Kissing allows us to get close enough to a mate to assess essential characteristics about them, none of which we’re consciously processing. Part of this information exchange is most likely facilitated by pheromones, chemical signals that are passed between animals to help send messages. We know that animals use pheromones to alert their peers of things like mating, food sources, and danger, and researchers hypothesize that pheromones can play a role in human behavior as well. Although the vomeronasal organs, which are responsible for pheromone detection and brain function in animals, are thought to be vestigial and inactive in humans, research indicates we do communicate with chemicals.

The first study to indicate that chemical signals play a role in attraction was conducted by Claud Wedekind over a decade ago. Women sniffed the worn t-shirts of men and indicated which shirts smelled best to them. By comparing the DNA of the women and the men, researchers found that women didn’t just chose their favorite scent randomly. They preferred the scent of man whose major histocompatibility complex (MHC)—a series of genes involved in our immune system—was different from their own. Having a different MHC means less immune overlap and a better chance of healthy, robust offspring. Kissing may be a subtle way for women to assess the immune compatibility of a mate, before she invests too much time and energy in him. Perhaps a bad first kiss means more than first date jitters—it could also mean a real lack of chemistry.

Men Sloppy, Women Choosy
Behavioral research supports this biological reasoning. In 2007, researchers at University of Albany studied 1,041 college student and found significant differences in how males and females perceived kissing. Although common in courtship, females put more importance on kissing, and most would never have sex without kissing first. Men, on the other hand, would have sex without kissing beforehand; they would also have sex with someone who wasn’t a good kisser. Since females across species are often the choosier ones when it comes to mate selection, these differences in kissing behavior make sense.

Men are also more likely to initiate French kissing and researchers hypothesize that this is because saliva contains testosterone, which can increase libido. Researchers also think that men might be able to pick up on a woman’s level of estrogen, which is a predictor of fertility.

Crazy for Canoodling
But kissing isn’t all mating practicality; it also feels good. That’s because kissing unleashes a host of feel-good chemicals, helping to reduce stress and increase social bonding. Researcher Wendy Hill and colleagues at Lafayette College looked at how oxytocin, which is involved in pair bonding and attachment, and cortisol, a stress hormone, changed after people kissed. Using a small sample of college couples that were in long-term relationships, they found cortisol levels decreased after kissing. The longer the couples had been in a relationship, the farther their levels dropped. Cortisol levels also decreased for the control group—couples that just held hands—indicating that social attachment in general can decrease stress levels, not just kissing.

Looking at oxytocin levels, the researchers found that they increased only in the males, whereas the researchers thought it would increase in both sexes. They hypothesized that it could be that women need more than a kiss to stimulate attachment and bonding, or that the sterile environment of the research lab wasn’t conducive to creating a feeling of attachment.

Kissing, therefore, plays a role not only in mate selection, but also in bonding. At an Association for the Advancement of Science meeting on the science of kissing, Helen Fischer, an evolutionary biologist, posits multiple reasons for lip locking. She believes that kissing is involved in the three main types of attraction humans have: sex drive, which is ruled by testosterone; romantic love, which is ruled by dopamine and other feel-good hormones; and attachment, which involves bonding chemicals like oxytocin. Kissing, she postulates, evolved to help on all three fronts. Saliva, swapped during romantic kisses, has testosterone in it; feel-good chemicals are distributed when we kiss that help fuel romance; and kissing also helps unleash chemicals that promote bonding, which provides for long term attachment, necessary for raising offspring.

Sniff, Snuggle, and Turn Right
Yet, not all cultures or mammals kiss. Some mammals have close contact with each others’ faces via licking, grooming, and sniffing, which may transmit the necessary information. And although chimps may pass food from mother to child, the notoriously promiscuous bonobos are apparently the only primates that truly kiss. And while it’s thought that 90 percent of the human population kisses, there’s still the 10 percent that doesn’t. So it seems that as much as we use kissing to gather genetic and compatibility information, our penchant for kissing also has to do with our cultural beliefs surrounding it.

Whether we live in a place where kissing is reserved for close acquaintances, or somewhere where a casual greeting means a one, two, or three cheeker, one thing does remain highly consistent: the side to which people turn while kissing. It’s almost always to the right. A 2003 study published in Nature found that twice as many adults turn their heads to the right rather than the left when kissing. This behavioral asymmetry is thought to stem from the same preference for head turning during the final weeks of gestation and during infancy.

One of the best things about kissing, however, is that we don’t have to think about any of this. Just close eyes, pucker up, and let nature takes its course.
